Do You Hear What I Hear?

Shhhhhhh, listen.  Hear that?  That's the sound a smile makes when the corners of a mouth go up and a small giggle is let out.  And that?  That's the speeding up of a heartbeat when relief and excitement collide.  And that?  Well, that the sound of tears of joy and gratitude.

Those are the sounds of the season, the sounds resulting from our Yes, Virginia efforts.

Last week I shared another email from a mother we are helping.  As time is short and shipping times prohibitive, a Walmart e-giftcard was sent on Santa's sleigh.  Yesterday I received this picture and note from the mom:

I just wanted to show you what you did for my children !! THANK YOU SO MUCH because of your kindness they have warm clothes new shoes n food n Christmas gifts 🎁  They’re going to be so excited I didn’t tell them anything!

I say this a lot, but it's true.  What you do is more than just arranging gifts and food for those in need.  You are literally transforming hearts and spirits.  You are the reminder - in the midst of other people's stress and despair - that the good people still outnumber the bad.  And that where there are good people, there is hope - today and for the future.

Do you know what I know?  That you're all amazing.

Where There’s A Will, There’s A Sleigh

I have literally just settled into my plane seat, but elfing can happen anywhere.

As shipping times are fairly prohibitive this close to Christmas, e-cards are fast, and most assuredly welcome.

I recently had an unexpected surgery, I am currently in recovery. I have no money to pay bills or put food on the table. I have 3 children 5, 6, and 13. With rent coming & Christmas coming fast does anyone knows of resources to get food, rental assistance and Christmas gifts. 🎁

A Walmart card is working its way through the ether tonight to help with food and gifts she may wish to buy so her children have something Christmas morning.
