Going to keep this one short today - working on getting moved into our new place. But I cannot let what took place in the Dream Church in Phoenix yesterday just slip by.
First, in case you missed it, the bullshit that was sold by the two Carnival barkers for Christ about their amazing air cleaning system in the church was called out by the manufacturer who stated very clearly that their system has never been tested on COVID. But the lie was already out there as evidenced by the 3,000 people who showed up with no masks and packed in like petri dish sardines.
As is the norm, the Rancid Sweet Potato Campaign trotted out many speakers ahead of the main event. There was Kimberly Guifoyle, the woman paid $180,000 a year by the campaign to be Junior's arm candy (I think she is the kind with the scorpion inside it). Her role in this seems to be to get crowds to chant Lock Her Up about Hillary.
Matthew Gaetz, the drunken fucking mess from Florida who is or isn't a father/dad/surrogate/manfriend to a young boy - he rambled on is his best I'm not a racist but I'm about to unload some seriously racist words on you all.
“I reject the notion of white privilege or black privilege or any other type of privilege,” he said. “We are all unified in one American privilege that we should be proud of, and fight for everything we have.”
Uh huh, I see. Spoken as a man drenched in white privilege and Daddy's protection all your life, Matthew. Bottoms up.
Of course, Trump was to best them all with his use of "Kung Flu" yet again - sickening to watch a crowd in a church cheer his racist taunts - and his admitted ignorance about what the 19 in COVID-19 stands for (2019, idiot). But the piece de resistance of the Trump fluffers was brain trust Reagan Escude' who schooled us all on our pancake history. "Aunt Jemima was canceled. And if you didn't know, Nancy Green, the original, first Aunt Jemima, she was the picture of the American dream. She was a freed slave who went on to be the face of the pancake syrup that we love and we have in our pantries today."
Oh, Reagan, you sweet, empty headed little racist, you.
Aunt Jemima was a character first brought to life by male minstrels who performed the song Old Aunt Jemima in blackface. Chris Rutt, who invented the pancake mix, adopted the name from the song as his mascot of sorts. So Aunt Jemima, being a fictional and wholly offensive interpretation of the "slave mammy" never had access to the American Dream - fictional or otherwise. This was an original advertisement for the product.
Nancy Green was hired in 1893 by the RT Davis company that had bought the product. Yes, she was a former slave whose face became the "Aunt Jemima" on the bottles and boxes we know, but as opposed to the story pushed by so many white people trying to defend the racist origins, she never became a millionaire. In fact, she worked as a cook and housekeeper for a white judge until she was hit by a car and died in 1923.
In case you are wondering who this girl is and why she rated stage time - she was the token "canceled white person" introduced by Trump because she lost her job after posting about her precious white skin on social media. She also railed against BLM and blamed "fatherlessness" in the black community for "all the rioting and destruction."
Pssst, Reagan, have you checked the skin color of those arrested so far - those Boogaloo losers, etc? Brace yourself, Miss Thang, they are white. With fathers.
'You are not virtuous because you support a movement. You are not glorifying God when you apologize for your whiteness,' she said.
Le sigh.
Supporting equality, the end of police brutality, and seeking true justice for innocent people whose lives have been snuffed out by unaccountable cops IS VIRTUOUS. And it's long fucking overdue. And once again, no one is saying apologize for being white. The color of your skin is nothing more than the byproduct of two people fucking, Reagan. So my white skin is no more ordained by God than someone's black skin. It's genetics, not grace. What we should apologize for and be working day and night to right, is 400 years of systemic racism perpetrated by a White is Right culture.
But you go enjoy your pancakes, Reagan. Stock up on the bottles and boxes before Quaker Oats deprives you of your revisionist history.
We'll be over here thinking about Harriett Tubman who is absolutely rolling in her grave.
