No, the above title is not a typo. I know the lyrics are "Santa Claus IS coming to town..." but for many, the title tells the real tale of what they are facing this Christmas. Is Santa Claus coming to town?
This week while out running errands, I heard my first Christmas songs of the season. Yes, yes, yes, I know that pisses off some of you, it not even being Thanksgiving yet, but it makes me happy inside.
In one store, I took a few minutes to stroll through the Christmas section, taking in the twinkle lights on the trees, the bright red bows, shiny garland, manger scenes, and stockings waiting to be bought and filled.
My heart was warm.
And I stood there thinking, "If these simple things are still magical to a jaded 50 year old woman, how must they look to a small child who still believes?"
Several of you have begun making donations to the Yes, Virginia fund - THANK YOU. Your help, your generosity mean so very much. But the DGMS donation bucket is still very low. If you have not had a chance to click on the link, it is there on the left side of the page, open 24/7.
Please send your donations. And if you need our help, please send me your story ([email protected]) and DGMS will once again come together to send Santa down your chimney and that amazing Christmas magic alive in your home.
(P.S. To all our regular DGMSers - I mentioned on the FB page that I will be out-of-pocket for a bit. Life is being what life tends to be - unpredictable, and sometimes unkind. When I return - no, not Barcelona - Rudy and I have had to cancel that trip for now - I hope to return to a full DGMS Yes, Virginia bucket, and be able to start making wishes come true. Yes, that is completely selfish - but it will be a wonderful pick-me-up (and let's be honest - we could all use that as this heinous election season winds down) - I know this from all the past years it has been my privilege to play DGMS elf. Love you all - Linda.)
