I am a poor sleeper. I just am. I accept that my lot in this life is to stare into the dark and ponder life's foibles, fallacies, and deeper meanings.
And to sometimes be driven to the edge of madness by what manages to sneak out of the back boxes of my mental attic...
Today ... 4:34am ... THIS began playing on a continuous loop in my head ...
Complete with cheesy logo font, shooting fireworks, and hearts aplenty - it has stopped only long enough to now alternate with this...
So... as I am obviously stuck in some late 60s - early 70s time warp, what were your favorite memories of that time period? TV shows? Songs? Characters?
Share - and in doing so, perhaps help get this &*^%$@ ear worm out of my head! :O)
I didn't even have to click. Freakin' "LOve American Style" is playing away in my head right now. And on a star spangled night my love, my love come to me... Jeez alou.

I'm cracking up watching the 5th Dimension and their awesome 60's fashion. Gotta love Marilyn McCoo's hair helmet, Ron Townson's puffy shirt and Florence LaRue's kicky transparent dress bib that was probably fashioned out of one those clear plastic almost full body umbrellas. Ah, yes, those were the days!

Dang it Chicky- Got me with "Knock Three Times" Grrrr~
I loved Mork & Mindy- my kids even enjoy it today. I miss TV being so non-smarmy and non-sexual. Disgusts me that every show on TV shows kids sassing back to their parents and then a "laughtrack" plays or that every scene has T&A everywhere.

Petticoat Junction and Green Acres - anytime I run across them channel surfing I've just got to stop and watch and episode or two.

well, Mary Ellen pretty much covered my TV programs. Go figure, I watch M*A*S*H in the 70's which was a show about the Korean War which took place in the 50's.
But early family gatherings around the TV included Lawrence Welk, Ed Sullivan and Gunsmoke. A tune that gets stuck in my head? Theme from Perry Mason. Da-na, na-NAH!

I remember all of those too, but after this morning's news, the song that will be in my mind today is Moon River. RIP Andy Williams.

Oh wow...so many great shows from that era! I remember my mom had to watch Adam 12, Emergency!, Ironside, Room 222, and Marcus Welby MD. My dad was a HUGE Hee Haw fan (good thing we had 2 tvs because my mom HATED Hee Haw with a passion). I had to watch The Partridge Family and The Brady Bunch every week. Other shows we watched were All in the Family, Flip, The Sonny and Cher Comedy Hour, The Carol Burnett Show, The Bob Newhart Show, The Odd Couple and Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In. I also remember watching the Smothers Brothers (which really surprised me since my parents were such conservatives!) But two shows theme songs that can always get stuck in my mind are: M*A*S*H (Suicide is Painless)and The Mary Tyler Moore Show (You're going to make it after all!) Now I am going to go through the day with tv theme songs stuck in my head!

I am not hitting those play buttons for anything in the world...once I hear a tune, it cycles in my brain continuously until I find another one. Currently, Bye Bye Miss American Pie is on a loop in my head (there is always something looping around in there)...If I play your tunes I am toast for the rest of the day!
