UPDATE: Just spoke to my Mom. Apparently, it is NOT a small aneurysm as we thought. According to her neurologist, small falls into a range of like 2.2 - 3ish. Hers is 9+.
Yeah.
She is waiting for a call from a neurosurgeon right now. This is something that needs dealt with as soon as possible. Thank you all for your wonderful words of encouragement. To steal from Oliver, "Please sir, may I have some more?"
My stomach hurts...
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kendall's graduation weekend was wonderful. Grandparents, siblings, my sister and brother-in-law - laughs, pride, games.
There was one cloud, however.
My mother pulled my sister and I into the living room, away from everyone else.
She then explained that she has an aneurysm.
As she and my sister started to tear up, and my own heart headed towards my feet, I took a breath, looked at my sister, then my mother, and said, "NO. We are not going to cry, so you are not going to cry. Just tell us the facts and we'll move forward from there."
An aneurysm. Thankfully detected when she recently had an MRI for a wholly unrelated issue with her eye.
Today she heads to the neurologist to map out the plan of attack. Obviously, with a bleed in her brain, this is not a wait-and-see issue. This is a we-need-to-correct-it-NOW issue.
Please send your amazing love, light, prayers, and good thoughts towards my Mom today as she meets with her doctor. And a little towards my feet if you can - my heart has been sitting on them for two weeks and they are starting to get numb.
Sorry I'm so late getting here, but I'm sending lots of hugs and prayers to you guys. I hope things are going better and you're able to enjoy your trip.
Hey Linda,
I've been pretty preoccupied with my own life lately and am just getting around to checking in at DGMS. I'm going to suspend a personal rule and not be a self-absorbed wise-ass for at least this post.
I'm really sorry to hear about your Mom's condition. Much love and peace to you, your mom, and the whole family. Really.
Let me know if you need anything,
Jimmy
Linda,
I've read your blog for years now, befriended you on facebook, but I've never written a comment on here until now. My heart aches for your family, and I will certainly be keeping you, your mother, your sister, your daughters and husband in my thoughts during this difficult time. Please be strong for her. I pray that all turns out well.
Oh Linda, that is definitely some scary news! But on the bright side, as others have said, they found it before there were even symptoms, so that is great.
You and your family are very dear to me, and I'm sending prayers and positive thoughts out for all of you.
BIG HUGS from Lewisville. Hang in there.
That is what I kept reminding her last night. She's had no symptoms at all - no headaches, nothing.
Had it not been for the macular hole she dealt with years ago and the continuing issues that have come since, this never would have been detected.
Posted by: Linda Sharp to Kerry | Friday, June 17, 2011 at 09:07 AM
Good luck to your mom and your family Linda. Have faith - the "good" news is they've found and identified this and are able to treat it. That's a huge part of the battle.
Posted by: Kerry | Friday, June 17, 2011 at 08:47 AM
Chicky - you can send a little lover my way if you'd like.
Linda: THANK YOU for keeping us updated on what is such a serious, personal issue in your life. I'm so glad that you consider us "family" enough to know about these things so that we can pray and send all the positive energy to your Mom. To quote you, "we love you more than our luggage!"
More waves of prayers and positive energy comming from Jax to your Mom today.
Linda: I don't know if this helps at all but my sister had three aneurysms in 1967 and survived the surgery - she went on to live for another 25 years! There have been such advances in surgery since then so I am sure that your mom will be fine! Sending love, prayers, good thoughts and karma from Canada.
Posted by: PennyB | Thursday, June 16, 2011 at 07:12 PM
Hugs to all. The problem is clearly identified. The she may already be scheduled for surgery. Deep breaths. YOU can't DO anything just yet. IF there is time, make certain she has a fresh manicure and pedicure before surgery. After, help her decide on shaved hair patterns for recovery.
Oh Linda, this just brings tears to my eyes, honestly. Not just because of what you and your family are going through, but because I just want to be there to give you a big hug and let you cry on my shoulder and not worry about anyone else but being able to let your fear out.
For someone I have never met, you have made my life so much better, and I just wish I could be there to help you now.
All my good thoughts and love are coming your way right now...and until this is worked out. (((((((((LINDA))))))))))))))
