I just received an email from DGMS regular, Shawn.
Sure, I get tips, links, news stories, etc, every day, and I use many of them. Some I can't get to, some are duplicates of others, some are simply meant to make ME laugh.
But this one from Shawn is special. It's no link to a local child abuse story - God knows there is no shortage of those. It's not a webpage for another Multislacking Game with $^%^^%#! monkeys or ceiling fans or belly sledding penguins.
Rather, this one is about being inspired. This one is about being personal. This one is about saving lives.
You see, Shawn is joining in the Breast Cancer 3-Day Walk later this year. Shawn lost her mother to breast cancer nearly 20 years ago. For Shawn, this is personal. And while I have never lost a relative or friend to the disease, I do have breasts, as do many of the people I care about in this world, ergo, it IS personal for me too.
Shawn has set a goal of $5,000. I have started her on her way this morning. I would like to ask you, too, to visit her personal fundraising webpage on the official 3 Day site.
And if you can, please make a donation. Whether it is $1, $5, $10, or $100 - every little bit will help - and you never know - it may indeed help YOU or ME down the road, should our breast health ever become compromised.
