Tonight I received an email from Chicky asking for some of our DGMS mojo, love, and light. I know you'll join me in sending some their way...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My stepdad, Stephen Carlson - who is one of the nicest people in the world, is having Gallbladder surgery tomorrow. He and my mom were
vacationing in Alabama when he felt horrible stomach pains. My mom convinced him to to go Urgent Care - and they told him to get right to
the hospital. After getting an MRI, they discovered that he has an inflamed gallbladder with stones. Since it's infected, the doctor gave
him super antibiotics to try to bring the infection down, and they are going to operate on him tomorrow at 1:00 pm (EST). If they can't get
the infection cleared, they will have to cut into him rather than perform laproscopic surgery. My mom's brother and his wife are there with my them, but they are far away from home and my mom feels all alone and very scared. I just spoke to her and she is terrified she will lose him. Debbie assured me that the operation is routine, but it IS
surgery. He is only 65 years old, he is my mom's rock and I don't know if she could handle it if anything were to happen to him. So, I am asking if the DGMS Miracle Network can handle just one more miracle and send him some prayers, mojo, magic, anything they've got to get him through this. Thank you on behalf of my entire family. Love to you! Kathy (Chicky)
Kathy: Prayers, good vibes, positive mojo being sent from Jacksonville Florida to Alabama right now to your mom. Please post later today and let us know how it went. Love you girl!
I don't know where in AL your parents are, but be comforted by the fact that despite the backwoods reputation, there are truly world class hospitals in that fair state. Not only that, I am sure that once word spreads that your parents are from out of town and had this befall them, they will receive some world class southern hospitatlity. Sending prayers their way and looking forward to the update that says all is well.
Keeping Stephen and your Mom in my prayers Kathy, and sending you a great big hug. I know how awful it is to be far away when something like this happens. Love you!
I had to get my gallbladder out three months after Lily was born. I waited too long, and my gallbladder was inflamed and very full. They just had to make the incision a little bigger. The surgery doesn't take long and I'm sure your stepdad will be fine! Lots of positive thoughts going their way!
Sending positive thoughts and prayers to your Mom and Stephen as he goes through his surgery. Also hugs to you, Chicky, to get you through the waiting time as well.
Hang in there!
Thanks everyone - you don't know how much I appreciate all of you. The surgery is scheduled for 15 minutes from now. The doc said that he won't know if they can remove it by laproscopy until he gets in there...Paula, they are wonderful down there! My mom said that they are so nice and just make her feel so good that they are getting it done there - Southern Hospitality at its finest! Please continue to pray for Stephen, my momma is very scared. <3 Love you all
Mom just called. Surgery is over and Stephen is fine - Thank you all so much for your prayers and well wishes. The doctor said his gallbladder was very infected and there were tons of gallstones in it, they removed it, and hope they got the entire infected area. Steve is in recovery and feeling like shit, but they may release him tomorrow. Thank you so much for your prayers - you are all amazing.
On behalf of my Mom, She wanted me to make sure to thank all of you for your prayers and kind words. Steve's enzyme level is a little high so the doc wants to keep him one more night - but there are NO GALLSTONES so that was really good news (they would have had to open him up if there were any)...I could hear the relief in my mom's voice when I spoke to her. Great News! I can breathe again!
