Got Lead Foot?

If you've driven a car, you've broken the law.

Period.

There is not one among us who has not indulged our inner Speed Racer or Racer X and crept a mile or two or thirty above the posted speed limits in our lives.

I'm a very safe driver, but I have been pulled over and ticketed three times for speeding.  (Although I blame two of them on the music I was listening to... how can you not speed to Def Lepperd's Pour Some Sugar On Me, or anything by Aerosmith, I ask you?)

Chicky Chick sent me this link and I checked it out for my city and the areas where I travel most in my day to day life.  Sure enough, all the speed traps I have come to know and despise so well are listed there.

The site is contributed to by drivers like you and me, and others can add their comments on the speed traps listed.  Check it out and see if you are familiar with what's listed in your city.

You may discover some hot spots you were unaware of, and you will definitely experience an immediate sense of community with those drivers who feel your local pain.

(Oh and for the record - NO ONE should have ever even contemplated making a live action Speed Racer movie.  He and his Mach 5 were my first official crush as a young girl and live on in my heart where Speed and I continue to race from one adventure to another to this day.  F**K Trixie, I'd let Speed check my oil anyday...)

I, too am an Aerosmith Speeder. Is there a support group for us?

P.S. Ya think it would help if I didn't have all six CDs in the CD changer Stephen Tyler's CDs?

Oops - STEVEN Tyler!

OMG - Linda - he was my first crush too (and Donny Osmond!) I hated Trixie - she was my competition - HAHA!

I kept asking for a pet monkey. Speed's eyes scared me.

I-55 through Mississippi. Between the Hammond, LA break off from I-12 and Jackson, MS... nothing. Between Jackson and Southaven, nothing. Well, there's Grenada, but there ain't much there. I was driving to Memphis on one of my famous road trips, and damn if I didn't look down and I was going damn near 100, and the speed limit is 70, if I recall correctly. NEVER seen a cop there.

But... beware driving 301 from Jacksonville down to Gainesville. There are two or three little towns that are SPEED TRAPS. You'd better be going the speed limit or under, or you will get a ticket.

Cool site - had several I knew about and a few I SHOULD have known about. Thanks to this link, there shouldn't be any speeding tickets in my near future :) Thanks Chicky Chick and Linda!

Considering how many speed traps there are in my hometown I am absolutely amazed that I've not got a speeding ticket in 10 yrs! Of course I just jinxed myself.

I have not had a speeding ticket since 1993. That does not mean I haven't deserved one every time I get behind the wheel or on my motorcycle. In California - if you aren't going over the speed limit by at least 10 mph - you will get run over on the freeway and on most streets. If you are in the carpool lane - it seems the minimum speed is 85mph. I have been on my motorcycle doing 85 and have had people tailgate to get me to go faster. Nothing will piss me off more than to have someone on my rear wheel when I am on the bike.

I have been PASSED by CHP while speeding because I am not doing more than the flow of traffic. They look for the ones weaving in and out of traffic and those that tailgate.
