I apologize for these taking a while to appear. Life on this end tends to get uppity and take over from time to time. :O)
From Dorothy: This was taken in Sept '07 when Dave and I took a weekend get-a-way to Corpus. I'm guessing I wzas around 225#'s here. I've already posted a current picture ( after a year on weight watchers). About 30#'s to go.
And Shawn has sent in an update!
According to my scale, I am 16-17 lbs lighter than I was right before the walk (Breast Cancer 3 Day) when I weighed 233. I am down to 216. The other pictures are just for comparison. The shirt I am wearing WAS tight especially around my middle and now it isn't.
GREAT JOB, SHAWN!!!

And from Tina in WI...
Dorothy nagged, so here they are. These pictures are from Christmas a year ago, but my weight hasn't changed. My hair is longer, but that's it. (The baby is my niece)
My weight hasn't really changed in about 5 years. I want to lose 10 pounds by Easter, 20 pounds by the fourth of July, and 40 pounds by Christmas.
Now I'm off to the exerise bike so I can make some progress!

Oh crap, I think I was drunk when I posted that picture. It was so long ago that I was hoping it had gotten lost out there in cyberspace.
Thanks Tina, glad someone listens to my nagging! And I love your "baby steps " approach. Setting smaller short term goals is the best way to do it. My short term - that has turned into a career- goal is to just get under 180#. I've been teetering on the brink for a couple of months now and just can't seem to go anywhere. Spring is coming, and with it, alot more outdoor activity. I'm counting on that to get me going again.
Good job Shawn! I love it when my cloths start geting bigger!

Dorothy, I agree - I sent in the photos but was kind of hoping they'd get lost...
Anyway, the past two weeks have not gone so well - no losses but no gains so I guess that's not terrible. I also seem to hit those plateaus that I can't get past. Plus, as the semester progresses I have less time available. I will definitely be working out a lot over spring break, so hopefully I can break through then.

About a month ago I saw my scale read 212...alas it is back up to 214...but still I am making progress.

I was just weighed in for the first time in 3 months at the dr. I lost 8 lbs since I started this in January. I kind of feel deflated but this is exactly why I hate going by scales!!!!

Okay, if Valerie Bertanelli can do it at 48, so can I at 45. I am going to join in and lose this weight before anymore time gets away. No more putting it off!

I just hit my 30 pounds last Saturday. I have lost 10 more pounds since the last time I posted in February. It is coming off slower and slower now but, down is down. I have been playing with the same 2 pounds for like 4 weeks and I am starting to get frustrated. This week, I am having PMS cravings from HELL. I want to eat everything that sits still for 5 minutes. I will see how bad I did on Saturday when I weigh in again. I hope I have maintained and not gone up. Back on the horse, gotta get my head back on straight and not let this get the best of me.

Ok kids, I'm joining in on this adventure. What do I need to get started? Before pictures? Goals? Etc etc....

Alison, Welcome! Post whatever you are comfortable with. We need all the support and company we can get.

Well, I'm 5'8" and around 170lbs. Trying to get down to 150ish. I need motivation. I hate working out. HELP!

It had been quiet for so long I hadn't checked in. I am down about 20 pounds since January, and am below 200 lbs for the first time in years. The last few weeks of school are always tough with weird hours, parties and banquets, etc, so I am happy that I maintained these few weeks.
I got a Wii Fit in January that has helped. I just got the Wii Active yesterday. I haven't tried it out yet, but I hope it steps it up!

Hey, I have been just sitting out here lurking for a while and thought I would come out and check out how everyone is doing. I decided to lose weight in January but did not have much success until I joined WeightWatchers online with my husband, mid March. We have each lost about 22 lbs so I have to be happy about that- still plenty to lose, but still it is 20+ lbs gone.
The biggest thing that we have noticed is that the whole "points" system makes you really aware of everything that you are putting in your mouth and makes you plan for those splurges by going light for lunch or whatever...and we have found that even when you do blow the whole points thing, you do not blow it nearly as badly as we otherwise would have...so vacation and all the graduation/ end of school festivities have not had as big of an impact on the scale as it normally would.
We are both working out really hard as well, which I am sure helps, but it has gotten to the point where people are noticing and the compliments comments are really big motivators.
Anyway, if any of you are struggling and need some sort of a way to get things on track, check out www.weightwatchers.com and see if it might be something you feel comfortable with...it has really worked for us and is one of those things that you can eat anything you want, but you just have to watch those total points for the day/ week.
Just thought I would pass that on for anyone who may be interested.

Congratulations Christy ! Wish I could report that I was doing as well but truth is, I've been stuck for awhile now. I am a firm believer that the Weight Watchers program is the best one out there. Keep up the good work!!
Now, post a current picture so I don't have to see that awful picture of myself everytime I click over here!

Linda -
I'm not sure if this is going to get lost in the shuffle but I would rather you find it here in a couple of weeks than take any of your time from your family during vacation week!
Please let me know when you're gearing up to start this blog spin off again, I had gastric bypass surgery a month ago and would be happy to field any 'going through it' type questions people may have. I know it's a drastic thing to do but, I researched for over a year and decided it was the right thing for my family and me.
Surgery is clearly not the right for many many people, it just happened to be correct for me!
My decision was made primarily on improving my long term health. The good news is, my diabetes has been resolved already!

Not lost in the shuffle at all! I'll be drawing attention to this area again with the New Year - between you and Natala I believe we can do so much more than just encourage one another to eat less. The new year needs to be about finally eating RIGHT!
Posted by: Linda S to Dusk | 12/30/2009 at 08:27 PM
I wish I could have done what Natala has been able to accomplish! It just wasn't the right thing for me... encouraging people to find what works for them is the key to each individual's success! There are so many different ways!
I haven't said it lately but, you're a doll! :)
